Abstract

The Strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) through a sustainable lifestyle program based on waste utilization represents a strategic effort to foster environmental awareness among students. This program aimed to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of waste management, particularly plastic waste and fisheries waste, through an educational and participatory approach. The activity was conducted at SMA Negeri 4 Pangkalpinang and involved 208 eleventh-grade students, accompanied by school teachers. The implementation methods included socialization, educational sessions, and hands-on mentoring, delivered by resource persons from government institutions, academia, and community practitioners, and complemented by practical ecobrick-making activities. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pretest and posttest instruments, with data analyzed through a paired sample t-test. The results revealed a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p-value < 0.05), indicating an improvement in students’ knowledge following the program. These findings demonstrate that the waste utilization–based P5 program is effective in enhancing students’ environmental literacy and supporting the implementation of the sustainable lifestyle theme in schools. Therefore, the program is recommended for sustainable development through integration into the P5 curriculum and strengthened cross-sector collaboration.
